The Ghana YMCA proudly celebrates Abena Brown-Amissah, former Western Regional Gender Representative, for her outstanding leadership as captain of Ghana’s National Female Netball Team, the Golden Maidens.
Abena led the Golden Maidens to two emphatic victories over the Côte d’Ivoire National Female Netball Team during their international friendly matches. Ghana dominated the encounters, recording impressive wins of 83–2 and 73–6.
These remarkable results reflect the team’s preparation, discipline, unity and determination. They also demonstrate the strong leadership provided by Abena as captain of the national team.
Her journey from serving as the Western Regional Gender Representative to leading Ghana at the international level demonstrates how youth leadership, volunteerism and personal commitment can prepare individuals for greater responsibilities.
As a committed member of the Ghana YMCA and former Western Regional Gender Representative, Abena continues to promote gender inclusion and inspire young women through leadership and service. Her achievements on and off the court reflect the Ghana YMCA’s values of service, impact and leadership.
