Mr. George Dela Coffie has been elected National President of the Ghana Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) at its 4th Quadrennial National Council Meeting held at the organization’s National Headquarters in Accra.
The meeting brought together YMCA leaders, delegates, partners and other stakeholders to review the Association’s progress over the past four years and set priorities for the next quadrennial period.
After fulfilling all electoral requirements and successfully completing a rigorous vetting process, 33 accredited delegates exercised their franchise in a transparent, credible and peaceful election.
Mr. Coffie, a former Ashanti Regional Vice President, will lead the Ghana YMCA for the next four years. Rev. Alex Owusu Addo, former Eastern Regional President, was elected National Vice President, while Ms. Sarah Mamle Kodjie and Mr. Frederick Obuo Ohene were elected National Women’s Commissioner and National Treasurer, respectively.
The Council Meeting was attended by several distinguished guests, including Ms. Lantonirina Rakotomalala, General Secretary of the African Alliance of YMCAs; Mr. Christian Kamara, National General Secretary of YMCA Sierra Leone; Mr. Jared Musima, Zonal Facilitator of the African Alliance of YMCAs from Kenya; and Lawyer Morrison Mutau from Kenya.
In her fraternal message to the Council, Ms. Rakotomalala congratulated the Ghana YMCA on its achievements, particularly its recent recognition at the 2026 World YMCA Impact Awards.
Andrea Bolte also conveyed greetings on behalf of CVJM Westbund and wished the Ghana YMCA a peaceful and successful election. Her message was delivered by the Executive Director of the Ghana YMCA, Mr. Kwabena Nketia Addae.
The Council reviewed the Association’s programmes, institutional development and achievements during the previous quadrennial period. It also identified key areas requiring further improvement and strengthening to enhance the organisation’s sustainability and impact.
Members, staff, observers and delegates pledged their support to the newly elected National Officers and wished them success in their respective roles.
The Immediate Past President, Charles Habiah, Esq., together with the former National Officers, assured the new leadership of their continued guidance and support in advancing the mission and development of the Ghana YMCA.
The Association said the new leadership would build on the progress achieved, strengthen the organisation and expand its work of empowering young people and transforming communities across Ghana.
