The Ghana YMCA joined YMCA/YWCA partners in Nairobi from 21–25 September 2026 for the Stronger Ys Partner Meeting, represented by our National Programmes Director, Samuel Asamoah, and Communications Officer, Maxwell Kyizagl.

Throughout the week, partners explored the programme’s three pillars, Organisational Development, Youth & Women Empowerment, and Advocacy, reflecting on a central question: beyond the activities we implement, what lasting change are we creating, and how do we demonstrate it?
For Ghana YMCA, the discussions reinforced how stronger governance, inclusive policies and effective organisational systems create opportunities for young people and women to lead, build sustainable livelihoods and influence decisions in their communities. The meeting also highlighted the importance of documenting results and amplifying youth voices through strategic communications and advocacy.

We extend our appreciation to YWCA-YMCA of Sweden / KFUM Sverige for facilitating this Sida-funded programme and coordinating the meeting. Special thanks to the Sweden delegation, led by Niclas Sannerheim, International Secretary, alongside Martin Hedberg and Isabelle Renvall, for guiding the discussions and supporting shared learning among partners.
We also value the rich exchange with AAYMCA and partners from Togo, Madagascar, Ukraine, Moldova, Senegal and Palestine YWCA, united by a commitment to building stronger organisations and greater opportunities for young people and women.

Ghana YMCA looks forward to applying these lessons to strengthen our work and deepen our collective impact across Ghana.
