Adolescents Sexual Reproductive Health
Development and protection of the body is one of three pillars of our youth development model. Therefore, knowing and practicing a healthy lifestyle by the youth is at the heart of our physical development component of our youth development mission. As such, we educate and impact the youth on general health issues and specifically on sexual reproductive health issues such as prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and teenage pregnancy.
We rely on peer education to change attitudes among young people insofar as adolescents sexual reproductive health matters are concerned. In line with this, we identify and train young people in and out of school to become Peer Educators who in turn reach out to their fellow youth with the requisite behavioural change messages. This programme was previously funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the YMCA of Greater Toronto. We currently seek funding to continue the programming.
