The Ghana YMCA Vocational Training Centre in Takoradi held this year’s edition of their annual certification day on 25th July, 2018. This event is organised by the centre for young trainees of the centre which have been successfully trained and tested in their respective trades for the awarding of certificates in the following categories; PROFICIENCY I, PROFICIENCY II and FOUNDATION EXAMINATION of National Vocational Training Institute [NVTI] and CERTIFICATE II of Ghana Education Service. This also affords the young trainees who are leaving the centre the opportunity to bring their family, friends and community members to celebrate and appreciate their successful training at the YMCA centre.
As a very important part of the certification day event, this year’s edition witnessed a glamorous showcase of dress works on a catwalk, food and crafts display in the exhibition room for all who attended the event. This part of the event is to demonstrate the beauty and significance of skill training offered by the centre to young people in an attempt to meet the needs of the labour market of the economy. It also has its powerful way of filling the hall with cheers of excitement and celebration from young trainees, friends and family which conveys a sense of pride and appreciation towards the work being done by the YMCA with these young people. There was also the sharing of success stories, poetry recitals as well as beautiful performances by Hi Y singing group and choreography team.
