Ghan YMCA 2016 annual youth conference
Ghana Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) holds its 13th Annual National Youth Conference at the Takoradi Polytechnic in the oil city of Takoradi in the Western Region from 8th to 14th August, 2016.
The focus of the YMCA on youth represents our dreams and vision of a society where the youth are able to take control of their own lives and actively participate in the decisions of their future. With this year’s election barley five (5) months away, we chose this theme to educate especially the youth on the need for peaceful, free and fair elections and for them to turn out to vote based on issues that affect their well-being socially and economically.
This years’ conference which is expected to bring together some 150 young people is being organized under the theme “Promoting Peaceful, Free and Fair Election 2016: Youth as Ambassadors”. They are the active, vibrant and innovative group of people in whom when engaged appropriately can propel the development of a nation at a fast rate.
The main conference will be preceded by a delegates’ session where youth leaders and key youth in the YMCA and a selection from outside the Y, will discuss issues bothering on areas of Movement Strengthening, Membership Development and undergo capacity building training on Advocacy.
Participants at this year’s conference will commemorate the 2016 International Youth Day with series of activities, tour the Naval Installation Base at the Sekondi-Takoradi and experience the awe-inspiring music of two Ghanaian gospel musicians Noble Nketia and Koda.
